Instinct Group Show

September 2019 | Eibhilin Crossan

I was delighted to be part of a very special group show this September in the Red Stables, Clontarf.

Entitled ‘INSTINCT’ this show brought together select works of four contemporary Irish artists, who are close friends and who support each other, both personally and professionally.

The show had a wonderful diversity of styles, ranging from impressionistic florals, landscapes, seascapes, human interactions and vibrant animal portraits in a variety of mediums.

Our opening reception was on Friday the 20th to mark Culture Night 2019.

Inspirational speaker and artist Steven Farrell opened the exhibition and gave a beautiful speech about the importance of creativity in all our lives.

Miriam Smithers
Miriam is a contemporary Oil Painter. She takes inspiration for her work from looking at the human form and how we as people interact with each other. How we see people visually, their posture, their emotion. The tangle of human relationships in everyday life, their personal space, the spaces between, depictions of Urban life while the World goes on as it must. Miriam has established herself as a Contemporary Figurative Artist with a fascination with both the human form and the Architecture of Urban Living. The backgrounds are muted and tonal, creating mood and atmosphere with shocks of bold colour bringing the humans to life.
